Self-Sufficient is the Name of the Game: an Introduction

What does it mean to be Self-Sufficient? How does one be Self-Sufficient in a Fast-Food, Everything at the Supermarket world? Those are the questions we are going to answer in this series. With one of the Primary goals of the SkyPilot Project being to encourage and support Low-Income Families and Individuals to be Self-Sufficient.

This is how Webster's Dictionary defines Self-Sufficient: "able to maintain oneself or itself without outside aid, capable of providing for one's own needs."

Don't get me wrong, we all need some help at times. Help from Family and Friends, and sometimes help from our Local Government. And it is perfectly ok to ask for help sometimes. When you become dependent on that help is when it becomes a problem. Being overly dependent on a person, Organization, or even Government isn't a good thing.

Being able to provide for yourself, and for your family can provide you with a sense of accomplishment, which can boost your self-esteem and over all sense of worth. Over the course of this series we will be exploring this concept of being Self-Sufficient, and non-dependent. I don't think that this is a concept is explored enough in today's non-stop, don't take a second for a moment of introspection society.

So during this series I am going to do something a little different. I am going to attempt something that we haven't done before on this blog. We are going to make this more interactive. Besides the post i will be writing. I am going to ask for your the readers input, and thoughts on what it means to be Self-Sufficient, and what it means from your perspective. We would like for it to be either as a written post, or as Video.

Don't forget you can contact us via Twitter, Facebook, or leave your thoughts in the comments.
